February 9th, 2019

After 29 days I lived n the Philippines and make memories there, now its the time to go back. In the morning, me, Aldisha, and Mufida already have a plan to serve a lunch for Nanay Chirs, Sir James, and Nicholette.

They'll come around 12 PM, we made "magelangan" for them, its a mix of fried rice and fried noodles. We also served them a matcha drinks, abon, balado eggs and "jipang" indonesian traditional snack made from sugar and peanut.

At 12 noon, the person who first arrived was Nanay Cris, then not long after that sir James came. He brought us a blackforest cake for dessert. Nicholette comes a little late because she said that she fell asleep. so after that we all started eating the food while talking. Right on the day before our return, we took full advantage of our last moments in Philippines. We took some photos as a farewell memories. We all hugged and I cried then, I cried because I knew that I would definitely miss this place. Nanay and sir James also gave us souvenirs and its a T.I.P merchandise. I got a lanyard, T-shirt, goodie bag, and wristband. I was so happy because i love everything about T.I.P.

At 20.00 PM, sir Jorge and two of his friends came to our apartment to take us to the airport. We were ushered in the airport that night because if we left at 3am, no one could take us, so we had to go to the airport that night and have to stay at the airport for a flight at 6am tomorrow.

From our apartment to the airport it takes one hour. after arriving at the airport we said goodbye and I thanked him for his kindness during my time here.

RECRATION TIME !

Mall of Asia and Rizal Park

January 27th 2019.

Aldisha, Mufida, Nicolette, Nanay Chris, and me went to Mall of Asia(MOA). Nanay Chris is someone we have considered as our own mother there, she came to pick us up at the apartment, but before we left we were still waiting for Nichollete. Nichollete is our buddies while in Philippines. After waiting for Nichollete, we went there at 11 am. On the way to the MOA, we had to take a jeepney first towards the Araneta Center, then we would go to MOA by train. Travel on the train only takes approximately 30-40 minutes.

Mall Of Asia is one of the biggest mall in Asia, since we are curious about it then we decided to visit Mall Of Asia. After we arrived at MOA, the first things that comes to my mind was "huge". The MOA is really huge and the building is so pretty and tall. We took this picture when we arrived there.

When the time showed lunch time, the first thing we did was eat lunch. We went to lunch at Jolibee. Jolibee is one of the places to eat that sells fast food. We ordered fried chicken, mashed potato, and also drinks. For me, Jolibee has a good chicken flavor compared to other fast food stores.

After lunch we went around the mall, but of course not all places in the mall were visited, because this mall is too big. We went to other department stores, Uniqlo, and shops. after getting tired of going around the mall, Nanay Cris invited us all to try one of the typical Filipino dessert called Halohalo. Halohalo is made from shaved ice with added milk, red sugar, and also on top of it, there is a kind of very sweet milk jelly. Halohalo can also be served with beans, pearls and purple yams. Here it is halohalo ~ and I loved halohalo so much.

After visiting Mall of Asia, before going home, we were invited by Nanay Chris to go visit Rizal Park. We all went to Rizal park at around 3pm and boarded a jeepney. Rizal park is one of the famous parks in Manila, Philippines, this park is a historic park for philippines. Arriving there the atmosphere was very crowded, in addition to knowing the history of philippines we were also there to take pictures and you can try street food for sale there. one of the street food that we tried was Taho. Taho is silky tofu which is added with sweet red sugar and pearls.

Then after the time of 18pm, we returned to our Apartement in Quezon City using a jeepney. It was a fun and tiring day. But I really enjoyed our time together. I hope someday, I'll be back to this place.

3rd Week - Teaching Practice

February 17, 2019 0 Comments
My mentor teacher, Mr. RS, gave me the opportunity to teach in 12SHS STEM A13, 12 SHS STEM A12, and 12 SHS STEM A14. Before teaching Mr. RS has given me an example of a lesson plan to learn, after that I prepared my lesson plan* and power point* for preparation for teaching. Before teaching, I also did not forget to consult material, lesson plans, powerpoint slides, and performance tasks to Mr. RS. He gave me many suggestions for perfecting everything before teaching.

Then on the day(4th February 2019), I practiced all the lesson plans about the "circulatory system", I started with quizzes, this is a quiz to guess the main topic so the student can think about it first, then after the student can guess that our topic for today is "circulatory system", I moved on with the definitions. After that its my turn to explain them about the parts of the heart, I used the 3D application in my Macbook, so they can see the detail of the hearts.

and for last part is circulation mechanisms. I used the video about the mechanism circulation as my media. After all, I ended by giving them an online quizzes that were done with the group. and then after all I revised and improved my teaching from the comments of my cooperative teacher for the next class.

Time management and organizing activities

For the time management, since I only have one hour to teach then I was divided into three sections. The first section was opening activity, then the second time was the main activity, and for the last one was closing activity. Time allocation for the learning in the class by 3 part. First was an opening activity, second was the main activity, and the last was the closing activity.

The opening activities are filled with greetings, motivation, and learning goals. Since I had to teach 'circulatory system' then the main activities started with the definition of circulatory itself, and focusing on the structure of hearts, and then after that the mechanism of circulatory in human body. For the closing activities, we had a games, its an online quiz by groups also we had a reflection and greeting in the end.

Problem-solving

The students in the class are very active and tend to have great curiosity, therefore the teacher must have the right strategy in dealing with it, one of the ways I do that is by giving them motivational activities at the beginning of learning, for example with "fun fact of the heart" . this is useful to add to their curiosity, besides that, providing explanations using 3d applications in studying the heart can also make students understand and excited, as well as giving videos. Not only those strategies, but in exploring students' abilities, I also asked a bunch of questions about the material and then I gave the students to think and explain or giving an example about it so that students can develop their abilities.

Classroom management

The students in T.I.P Quezon City Senior High School tend to have a large number of around 50 students per class, therefore in class management, the first thing that must be considered is having a loud voice, besides that when the atmosphere starts to noisy, I must be able to restore the atmosphere to calm down by giving them understanding.

2nd Week - Assisting Week

Assisting Week

(2nd Week)

The assisting week start 28-31 January 2019, after 7 days of observing teacher activities. This week, I had the opportunity to help teachers in their teaching and learning activities. My activities in becoming an assistant started on Monday (28th January 2019) in class 12 SHS STEM A12.

I was given the trust to guide the students in operating a microscope. After last week they learned about the plant structure of dicotyl and monocotyl plants. Then that day they were asked to observe parts of the roots, stems, leaves and flowers (pollen) of each dicotyledonous and monocotyl plant.

I saw that they had brought their plants to each group. Each group received a microscope, when the lesson began the teacher gave an example of how to use a microscope and how to obtain an object to be observed in a microscope. But after being explained of course there are still many students who don't know how to operate a microscope, then I come to help them. Many of them asked for the functions of the microscope and also they asked me how to get the incision, then asked if the one that they made could be used for the microscope observation or not, they were like "is it correct maam?". Some of them find it difficult to make thin objects, especially when cutting leaves.

But I always help them if they have difficulties, I also always answer or direct the things they ask. although it was difficult to get a thin incision, but I applauded that they did not give up on making it, so in the end they managed to get a good picture of the plant structure. I was very happy when I saw their faces who were amazed by their hard work of cutting the roots, stems, leaves and flowers.
